PARKMORE JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB

The Sandown Cobras Football Club (Southern Football League) and Parkmore Junior Football Club (South East Juniors Football League) are delighted to announce they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to form a pathway for junior players, commencing with Auskick, to progress to potentially play Senior Football.

The two clubs will maintain their identity and home grounds, but will work together to build a pathway for players to integrate from Juniors to Seniors, with the Sandown Cobras FC having a clear aim of fielding an Under 18 team in future seasons, and Parkmore JFC intent on building a full compliment of Junior teams.

Kevin O’Byrne, Chairman of the Sandown Cobras FC saidThis is a significant step forward in achieving a number of objectives outlined in the ‘Cobras’ 2011-2015 Strategic Plan. The link between the two clubs will now provide a pathway for junior footballers to progress into senior teams as well as the ‘Cobras’ senior players assisting with the development of junior football in the local community. We look forward to a long and successful partnership between the two clubs. A first off joint project in 2012 will be the exciting challenge to get the “Parkmore Cobras” Under 17 team up and playing in a new Under 17 competition in the South East Juniors Football League”.

Michael Palma, Vice President of Parkmore Junior Football Club said "It was felt that there was a gap at this age level. We are extremely excited about the creation of this new ‘Team’ which will provide great opportunities to junior players within our regions, and which will be supported by both clubs. We do not under estimate the enormity of what we are undertaking, however, we are confident that it can be achieved".

Both clubs will work together and with the community to ensure that they provide football and development opportunities within our regions for both junior and senior players who want to play one of the greatest games in the world!

Expressions of interest are being sought for the new Under 17 team. You can contact Michael Palma on 0407566155 with the Parkmore Pirates also providing Auskick up to Under 13's. The Sandown Cobras in 2012 will field Seniors, Reserves and two Thirds teams. New Recruits are welcome by contacting General Manager Brett Phillips on 0408540185.

FOOTBALL INTEGRATION

DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

Opportunities for people with a disability

In 2011 the SCFC executive launched the club’s 2011-2015 Strategic Plans. Part of the Strategic Plan is to develop Community Partnerships including the  opportunities for people with a disability, to participate in sport. In recent
years we have conducted a Disability Sports Day for Special Schools and other groups.

We are now seeking to enter a football team in the Football Integration Development Association ( FIDA) – the controlling body for the Australian Rules competition for persons with an intellectual disability.

Pending interest from Special Schools in our area we are keen to promote Australian Rules to students and hopefully form one or more teams. Age of entry is 14 to 26 years of age. The season include 10 games,  which will be played on Sunday once a fortnight starting from 29th April – concluding 5th August with a final series in late August.

We are seeking to attract at least 30 participations, with volunteers to enable us to meet the FIDA footy competition requirements. We look forward to your response, and further information can be obtained by contacting Lew Short at the club on 0438534719 or email lewatmel@netspace.net.au.
